Ruijanpolku is an old route toward the Barents Sea, now partly followed by a marked 35-kilometre trail through the forests and fell country between Sompiojarvi, Kiilopaa, and Laanila. Some older route markings can still be seen along the way.
It is a better choice for walkers who want a sense of history in the landscape, not just a short nature loop. Conditions are northern and remote enough that you should treat it as a real hike: check the route, weather, and transport before setting out.
