Kenkävero is a handsome old vicarage area on the edge of Mikkeli, now used for crafts, gardens, exhibitions, and a restaurant. It is the kind of stop that works well in Finland: low-key, local, and easy to fold into a walk from the centre.
The draw is less a single masterpiece than the whole setting. Wooden buildings, seasonal plantings, small shops, and lake-country calm make it a good place to slow down between museums or as a gentle introduction to the Saimaa region.
