Visulahti Park

Visulahti is a family-oriented leisure complex on the shores of Lake Saimaa about four kilometres from the town centre, easily the most popular day-out destination for families visiting Mikkeli. The park centres on a dinosaur-themed amusement area — somewhat incongruous in a Finnish lakeside setting, but enthusiastically maintained — with a children's farm, swimming pools, miniature golf, and a wax museum.

The real draw for adults is the lake shore itself. Visulahti sits directly on Lake Saimaa and offers swimming, rowing boats, and a pleasant beach area. In summer it fills with Finnish families from around the region; in the evenings the outdoor terrace of the cafe is a good place to watch the sun do its long northern thing across the water. The complex opens in May and closes in September.
