There is no direct rail connection; the nearest train station is in Tampere. Bus services run from Tampere to Pälkäne but are infrequent — a car is strongly recommended for exploring the area.
From Helsinki, the drive takes about two hours on the E12 motorway through Tampere. The area is a natural extension of a trip to Tampere or the Finnish Lake District.
