Brunberg is Porvoo's famous confectionery company, founded in 1871, and its cafe in the old town is a required stop for anyone with a sweet tooth. The shop is best known for Brunberg Kisses — dark chocolate truffles with a light filling — but also produces candies, pastries, and seasonal specialties that have been made in the same factory for 150 years.
The cafe itself is a small, cosy space in the old town, serving coffee, cakes, and the full Brunberg chocolate range. It is worth buying a box to take home; the Kisses are the most popular, but the liquorice and berry varieties are also distinctive.
