Annecy is on the TGV network from Paris (Gare de Lyon, about 3h45) and is well connected by direct trains to Lyon (2h), Grenoble (2h), and Geneva (1h45 via Bellegarde). The Annecy SNCF station is a 10-minute walk north of the old town.
The small Annecy–Haute-Savoie–Mont-Blanc airport handles only a handful of seasonal flights; most visitors fly into Geneva (45 minutes by motorway), Lyon (2 hours) or Chambéry (1 hour, mainly ski-season charters). FlixBus and BlaBlaCar Bus run cheap intercity coaches from across France and Switzerland.
Driving from Geneva is the easiest route — A41 motorway, about 45 minutes. From Chamonix and the Mont Blanc area, the A40/A41 takes about 90 minutes.
