Le Clos des Sens

Three-Michelin-star kitchen of Laurent Petit, dedicated to Alpine lake produce

Le Clos des Sens is Annecy's only three-Michelin-star restaurant, set in a renovated farmhouse in Annecy-le-Vieux about ten minutes from the centre. Chef Laurent Petit makes a virtue of constraint — his menu uses only ingredients from Alpine lakes (Annecy, Bourget, Geneva), the mountain pastures around them, and the gardens of the restaurant itself. Lake fish, herbs, fermented vegetables, dairy, freshwater crayfish and a single Savoie wine list.

Expect a long tasting menu (about €290 at the time of writing), three hours at the table, and a year-out reservation system. There are also nine rooms upstairs for those who don't want to drive after dinner.

A story
Laurent Petit removed all sea fish, citrus and tropical produce from his menu in 2014, restricting himself to ingredients from the Alpine lakes and surrounding mountains — the gamble paid off with the third Michelin star in 2019.
