Marché de la Rue Sainte-Claire

Tuesday, Friday and Sunday market stretching the length of the old town's main arcaded street

Three mornings a week the long, arcaded Rue Sainte-Claire fills with the Annecy market — one of the better outdoor markets in the French Alps. Cheese stalls dominate (Reblochon, Beaufort, Abondance, Tomme), but the line of stands also covers Savoyard charcuterie, lake fish, mountain honey, alpine wines, summer vegetables and bread.

Sunday is the biggest day; tourists make Sunday in season elbow-to-elbow. Tuesday and Friday are calmer. Get there before 11 to see it at full strength — by 13:00 the stalls are packing up.
