Château des Ducs de Savoie

The Château des Ducs de Savoie is Chambéry's power centre, a layered complex of medieval, Renaissance, and later buildings that once anchored the Duchy of Savoy. The courtyards alone are worth seeing, but a guided visit adds the Sainte-Chapelle and the political story behind the stone.

The chapel is tied to one of Europe's stranger relic histories: the Holy Shroud was kept here before it moved to Turin. That detail gives the castle a reach beyond local Savoyard history.
