Mulhouse Zoological and Botanical Park

The Mulhouse Zoo, founded in 1868, is one of the oldest and best-regarded zoos in France. It occupies a large park in the Rebberg district south of the city centre, with well-maintained enclosures spread across undulating terrain that makes the visit feel more like walking through landscape than a standard zoo circuit. The botanical collection is integrated throughout — hundreds of labelled tree and plant species alongside the animal habitats.

The zoo has a strong conservation programme and is particularly known for its breeding work with endangered big cats and primates. It's a good option with children or as an afternoon outing separate from the museum circuit.
