Écomusée d'Alsace

The Écomusée d'Alsace is one of France's largest open-air museums, spread across 15 hectares of the Alsace plain. More than 70 authentic Alsatian half-timbered buildings have been dismantled from their original locations across the region and reconstructed here — farmhouses, a working forge, a bakery, a medieval mine, a schoolhouse, and much more.

The site is animated rather than static: craftspeople work in the buildings, farm animals roam the grounds, and seasonal events bring the calendar to life. A large stork colony nests on the premises. Allow a full day to do it justice.
