Château Pavie occupies slopes south-east of the town, where the vineyard drops from the limestone plateau toward warmer, lower ground. It is one of the better-known estates in the appellation and a useful name to recognise when you start seeing bottles and signs everywhere.
As with most top Saint-Émilion estates, do not expect to wander in casually. Plan tastings in advance or enjoy the vineyard roads and viewpoints without pretending that every château needs to be entered.
