The Tour du Roy is the square medieval keep above Saint-Émilion's lanes. Climb it for the cleanest view over the town: tiled roofs below, vineyard slopes beyond, and the bell tower of the monolithic church pulling everything into line.
The tower is also a useful reminder that Saint-Émilion was not always a gentle wine village. Its position mattered in medieval Aquitaine, and the stonework has the blunt confidence of a place that expected trouble.
