Getting There

Le Mans is well connected by rail. The TGV from Paris Montparnasse takes under an hour — it is one of the closest TGV stops to Paris, making Le Mans viable as a day trip from the capital. Regional trains connect to Tours (about 1 hour), Nantes (about 1.5 hours), and Caen. The station is south of the city centre, about 15 minutes' walk from the old town.

By car, Le Mans sits at the junction of the A11 (Paris–Nantes) and A28 (Rouen–Tours) motorways. Driving from Paris takes about 2 hours. During the 24 Hours race in June, expect gridlock on all approach roads for the final 48 hours before the race start — if visiting for the race, either arrive well in advance or use the train.

Le Mans does not have its own commercial airport. Nantes Atlantique (about 130km) and Roissy CDG (200km) are the nearest significant airports.
