The ski station sits about 10 kilometres above the village by road, at an altitude of 1400 to 1800 metres on the flanks of the Cheiron massif. It is a small resort by Alpine standards — a handful of lifts and around 20 marked pistes — but that is the point. The clientele is largely from Nice and the coast, arriving on winter weekends for a day on snow that is usually reachable in under an hour from the seafront. Lift queues are short, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the views across the pre-Alps are considerable.
In summer the ski station base makes a useful starting point for hiking on the Cheiron massif. The summit of the Cheiron at 1778 metres can be reached on foot in a few hours and gives a panorama extending from the Maritime Alps to the sea. The road up from Gréolières is narrow and requires confidence on mountain roads, but the drive alone is worthwhile for the views it opens up across the valley.
