The stable block at Chaumont is often overlooked next to the château itself, but it is one of the great 19th-century stables in Europe. Built in 1877 for Prince Henri-Amédée de Broglie, it has electric lighting, hot water for the horses, and porcelain mangers — an extraordinary investment at a time when the horse was already being eclipsed by the engine.
The interior survives largely intact: stalls in oak and cast iron, harness rooms with their original fittings, even the prince's private riding ring. A short walk from the château courtyard, included with the main ticket.
