The Saturday morning market fills the central streets of Falaise with stalls selling the best of the Calvados region: unpasteurised camembert and livarot, apple ciders and calvados brandy, charcuterie, seasonal vegetables, and local honey. It runs from early morning until around noon and draws producers from across the surrounding countryside.
This is the kind of market that still functions primarily for locals rather than tourists. You can assemble an excellent Norman picnic here at reasonable prices — bring a basket, buy some bread from the boulangerie nearby, and head up to the castle walls.
