The Fairies' Pool sits at the far end of the main walking circuit through the Huelgoat forest — a quiet, darkly reflective pool surrounded by old oaks and moss-covered boulders, deep enough in the trees that it stays cool even in high summer. The name is accurate: it is the kind of place where you would not be entirely surprised to encounter something supernatural.
The pool is about 3 km from the village centre on foot, following the river trail past the main boulder formations. Most people who make the full circuit — Roche Tremblante, Grotte du Diable, Champignon, then on to the Mare — end up spending the better part of half a day in the forest.
Beyond the pool, paths continue into the deeper forest toward the Camp d'Artus and the Armorique moorland. This is where the forest transitions from the popular tourist circuit to genuine backcountry walking.
