The Green Mosque — known locally as the Ahmediye Mosque — is the only functioning mosque in Akhaltsikhe outside the Rabati fortress, and one of the few visible reminders of the town's 250 years as an Ottoman city. The mosque serves the town's small Muslim community, who are primarily Armenian-Muslim (Hemshini) in origin. It is a modest building by Ottoman standards, reflecting the town's peripheral position within the empire.
Respectful visitors are typically welcome outside prayer times. The mosque sits in the lower town, a short walk from the main bazaar area.
