Kokhta is the main ski mountain at Bakuriani, with a gondola rising from the village at 1,725 metres to a top station at 2,157 metres. The vertical drop is modest compared to Alpine resorts, but the runs are well laid out for intermediate skiers, and the piste conditions can be excellent after fresh snowfall on the Trialeti Range.
The mountain has separate beginner areas near the base, making it a reasonable place to learn. Ski and snowboard rental is available at the bottom station, and the lift queues are shorter and the crowds smaller than at Georgia's better-known resort of Gudauri. On clear winter days the views across the Trialeti plateau are quietly impressive.
