The Giant Plane Tree, locally called Chadari, stands near Batonis Castle and is usually said to be about 900 years old. Whether or not the number is exact, the tree is enormous: a broad, gnarled landmark that gives Telavi's main square a touch of theatre.
It is a small stop, not a destination on its own, but it belongs in any walk through the centre. The best way to see it is to pair it with the castle and the old streets around Erekle II Square.
