Karlsruhe is well-connected to the German rail network. The Karlsruhe Hauptbahnhof (main station) is on the main line between Frankfurt (1 hour by ICE) and Stuttgart (45 minutes). Direct ICE trains connect to Hamburg, Berlin, and Munich. Eurostar connections to Paris via Strasbourg are possible with a change. The station is south of the city centre, 10 minutes by tram or S-Bahn to the Marktplatz.
By road, Karlsruhe sits at the junction of the A5 (north–south, Frankfurt to Basel) and the A8 (east–west, Stuttgart to Ludwigshafen), making it easy to reach by car from most directions. Karlsruhe Baden-Baden Airport (FKB) is 20 km south of the city and handles Ryanair routes to European cities; Stuttgart Airport (STR), 90 km east, offers a wider selection.
