Orangerie

Baroque orangery set in Ansbachs court garden

The Orangerie closes the far end of Ansbach's Hofgarten with the kind of courtly symmetry you expect from a former margravial residence town. It was built for display as much as horticulture, giving the garden a formal architectural endpoint beyond the palace itself.

Today the building is used for dining and events, so the interior is not always the point. The best reason to come is the ensemble: palace, garden paths, clipped lawns, and the long orangery facade that makes Ansbach feel grander than its size suggests.
