Herz-Jesu-Kirche was Erlangen's first Catholic church after the Reformation, built for a Catholic community that had only slowly gained the same toleration extended to the city's Huguenots. Its restrained interior makes the history more interesting than the decoration.
It is a worthwhile short stop for visitors walking Erlangen's central churches, palace garden, and university quarter, especially as a contrast to the city's Reformed and Lutheran landmarks.
