Füssen is the southern terminus of a single-track regional railway from Munich via Buchloe. Direct trains take about two hours and run every two hours; from Buchloe there are frequent connections from Augsburg and the rest of Bavaria. The station sits at the northern edge of the Altstadt, five minutes' walk from the centre.
The town is also the end of the famous Romantic Road coach route from Würzburg, served by EurAide buses in summer. By car, it is around 130 km from Munich on the A95/B17 (90 minutes to two hours). The nearest international airports are Munich (175 km) and Innsbruck (110 km, on the Austrian side of the Alps).
From the station, regular buses 73 and 78 run to Hohenschwangau (the castle ticket centre) — every half-hour, 8 minutes. These are timed for the trains.
