Tegelberg Cable Car

A cable car running from the valley floor near Schwangau up the 1,720-metre Tegelberg peak, the closest serious mountain to Füssen and the easiest way to a high Alpine viewpoint. The summit station has a restaurant terrace with views back down to the lakes and out to the Austrian Alps — and, on a clear day, directly across to the silhouette of Neuschwanstein from above.

The peak is the starting point for the popular hike down via the Branderschrofen ridge and the Königsschlösser trail back to the castles (about three hours, downhill, easy). It is also a major launch site for paragliders. Cable car runs daily from spring to autumn, weather permitting. Adult return €25, one-way €17.50.
