Getting There

Ingolstadt is well connected to Munich and the wider Bavarian rail network.

By train: Regular regional services run from Munich Hauptbahnhof to Ingolstadt in approximately 60–75 minutes. ICE high-speed trains also stop at Ingolstadt on the Munich–Nuremberg route, reducing the journey to about 30–40 minutes. The station is about 2km north of the old town centre; tram and bus connections bring you into the centre.

By car: Ingolstadt is on the A9 motorway between Munich and Nuremberg. It is approximately 80km north of Munich — about an hour's drive in normal traffic. Parking in the old town is limited; the park-and-ride facilities on the outskirts are practical for day visitors.

Day trip from Munich: Ingolstadt is an easy day trip from Munich. The combination of the Medizinhistorisches Museum, the Kreuztor, and the Audi Forum fills a full day comfortably.
