The planned city is Eisenhüttenstadt's main sight. Around the old Leninallee, now Lindenallee, the new socialist city was laid out with broad streets, formal squares, cultural buildings, and apartment blocks in the heavy national style of the early GDR.
It is best seen on foot rather than from a car. Look for the proportions: generous pavements, axial views, public art, and facades that tried to make industrial labour feel dignified and state-backed. The result is not cosy, but it is unusually legible.
