Kornmarkt is the widest of the four old market squares and was historically the grain trade centre. The dominant building is the baroque Stadthaus with its bell turret on the east side — formerly the seat of the city government. The square opens onto Schillerplatz, where the Jerusalemhaus sits one block south.
Today Kornmarkt has the most outdoor café tables in the Altstadt and is the best place to sit and watch the town in the early evening.
