Neroberg

Hilltop with Russian chapel and 1888 water-ballast funicular

A forested hill rising just under 250 metres above the city, crowned by a lookout temple and the onion-domed Russian Chapel — built in 1855 by a grieving Duke Adolf for his young Russian wife. Take the Nerobergbahn, the 1888 water-ballast funicular that has been climbing the hill without a motor for over 130 years, and walk back down through the vineyards. Funicular runs every 15 minutes from April to October.
