When to Go

Wiesbaden is pleasant to visit year round. The city hosts festivals throughout the year, and the thermal springs mean even winter visits have their appeal.

Summer

Summer is the best time to visit, with warm weather and a packed events calendar: the Theatre Festival in May, the Jazz Festival in July, the Rheingau Wine Festival (ten days in August with local wine and sparkling wine in the palace square), and the Rheingau Musik Festival, Germany's biggest classical music festival, running since 1988. Temperatures reach 30 to 35 degrees, with occasional rain.

Winter

Winter is quieter, with the Wiesbaden Christmas Market as the main event. Temperatures rarely drop below -2 degrees, and snowfall is moderate. If you feel the cold, the city's famous thermal springs are always an option. The nearest winter sports are about 100km away.
