Wilsede

Tiny car-free heath village reached on foot, by bicycle, or horse-drawn cart.

Wilsede is the postcard version of the Lüneburg Heath: a tiny village of old farmhouses, sandy tracks and low heathland, reached without private cars. Most visitors arrive on foot, by bicycle, or by horse-drawn cart from car parks at Niederhaverbeck or Undeloh.

The village can be busy in summer, but it still gives the clearest sense of why the heath became a German holiday landscape. Use it as the starting point for Wilseder Berg and the surrounding trails, not just as a place to buy souvenirs.
