Bispingen is a small Lower Saxon town that makes sense because of what lies inside its wide municipal boundary. It is not a grand town in itself, but it puts you close to the most recognisable part of the Lüneburg Heath: Wilsede, Wilseder Berg, sheep-grazed heathland and car-free tracks across the sand.
The best day starts away from the motorway attractions. Walk or take a horse-drawn cart into Wilsede, climb Wilseder Berg, and visit Dat ole Huus for the old heath-farm story. In heather bloom, the landscape is gentle but memorable: low hills, purple scrub, birch, juniper and long views.
Bispingen has a second, more artificial side with indoor skiing, karting and oddball family stops. Iserhatsche is the strangest of these, part villa, part garden fantasy. The town works best for travellers who want a practical Heath base without pretending the village centre is the main attraction.
