Ferries run from Neßmersiel on the mainland. Sailings are timed to the tides — typically two or three per day — and the crossing takes about 30 minutes. No cars may be brought to the island; luggage is carried on electric carts. The nearest train station is in Norden, from which a bus connects to Neßmersiel. Booking the ferry in advance is essential in summer.
