Eicke House

Eicke House is Einbeck's carved showpiece, a richly decorated Renaissance half-timbered building from 1612 on Marktstrasse. The facade is packed with figures and ornament, the kind of surface that rewards standing still for a few minutes rather than just taking a photo and moving on.

Today it houses the tourist information office, which makes it a practical first stop as well as a sight. Pick up a town map here before wandering the old streets.
