Ludgeri Church

Large medieval market-square church with a celebrated Arp Schnitger organ.

Ludgeri Church dominates Norden's huge market square, a late-medieval brick church that carries the scale and plain strength of the North Sea coast. The building is worth entering for its space alone.

Its great treasure is the Arp Schnitger organ, built in the late seventeenth century and regarded as one of the most important surviving historic organs in Germany. Even if you are not an organ specialist, the casework and the odd, powerful placement inside the church are worth a close look.
