Rischmannshof is one of Germany's older open-air museums, centred on a heathland farmstead from the late 18th century. Outbuildings, tools, and domestic rooms show how rural life worked before the heath became a landscape of leisure drives and family parks.
It is not a huge museum, which is part of its usefulness. You can see it slowly in an hour or two and come away with a clearer sense of the Luneberg Heath as a lived-in farming region, not just purple heather and postcards.
