Weltvogelpark Walsrode is the reason most visitors come. The park keeps thousands of birds from hundreds of species, from parrots and cranes to birds of prey, and presents them in landscaped grounds that are closer to a botanical garden than a bare zoo.
The flight demonstrations are the highlight, but the planting matters too: rhododendrons, mature trees, ponds, and aviaries make it a pleasant walk even for people who are not bird obsessives. It is large enough to justify several hours, and families can easily spend most of a day here.
