Wolfenbüttel is 12 km south of Braunschweig and is easily reached from there. Direct regional trains run roughly every 30 minutes from Braunschweig Hauptbahnhof to Wolfenbüttel station; the journey takes about 15 minutes. From Hanover, take a train to Braunschweig (about 30–45 minutes depending on the service) and change there.
By car, Wolfenbüttel is on the B79 federal road south of Braunschweig and is well signposted. Parking is available near the old town and at the Herzog August Bibliothek. The nearest major airport is Hanover Airport (HAJ), roughly 70 km northwest; Braunschweig Airport handles mainly charter flights.
Wolfenbüttel station is about a 10-minute walk from the town centre and a 15-minute walk from the Herzog August Bibliothek.
