St Nikolai is the vertical marker of old Greifswald, a Brick Gothic church whose tower rises above the market streets. The church gives the town centre its northern German shape: red brick, high windows, steep roofs, and a sense of medieval trade wealth without big-city fuss. Even if you do not climb, circle it from the market side to read the skyline.
