Kunsthalle Bielefeld

Kunsthalle Bielefeld is the city's main art museum, housed in a red sandstone building designed by Philip Johnson. The collection focuses on modern and contemporary art, with changing exhibitions that often carry the visit.

It sits between the centre and Sparrenberg, so it is easy to combine with the castle. Even if the exhibition does not grab you, the building gives Bielefeld a stronger design note than many German regional cities.
