The Gustav Lübcke Museum is Hamm's main civic museum, covering regional archaeology, natural history, and art. The archaeology collection includes finds from the prehistoric and Roman periods of the Westphalian region, and there is a respectable collection of Egyptian antiquities. The art section focuses on 19th and 20th century Westphalian painting.
The building is centrally located near the main train station and the museum is free on the first Sunday of each month. It is a solid regional museum — not spectacular, but well-organised and worth an hour if you are curious about the area's deep history or looking for shelter on a rainy afternoon.
