Slinky Springs to Fame

Bright spiral pedestrian bridge turning an Emscher crossing into playful public art.

Slinky Springs to Fame is a pedestrian bridge that behaves like a sculpture. Designed by Tobias Rehberger, it wraps a coiled, colourful form around the crossing, making the walk over the Rhine-Herne Canal and Emscher feel deliberately theatrical.

Oberhausen has a strong industrial landscape, and this bridge is one of the easiest ways to see how the Ruhr has reused that setting for public space and art. It is best combined with a walk through Kaisergarten or a wider look at the canal-side regeneration around the city.
