Schloss Lieser is the most prominent building in the village — a grand neo-Gothic wine castle sitting in a landscaped park at the edge of the Mosel, with towers and turrets visible from the river road. Built in 1884 by the Puricelli family, it has been a hotel since the 1990s and its setting, with terraced vineyards rising above and the river below, captures the quintessential character of the Mosel valley.
Even if you are not staying or dining at the hotel, the park surrounding the castle is accessible and the exterior is worth seeing. The building is particularly striking when viewed from the opposite bank, or from the cycling path on the river road. The vineyards around the castle produce some of the best wine in the village — the Schloss Lieser estate's bottles are available at the hotel and at the local cooperative.
