St Mary's Church is a late Gothic hall church in the old town. Its strongest draw is the grave of Katharina von Bora, the former nun who married Martin Luther and outlived him by six years.
That single tomb makes the church feel less abstract than many Reformation sites. Torgau was not just a place of doctrine and princes; it was also where one of the movement's central households came to an end.
