The Sole-Therme is a brine spa fed by the iodine-saline springs that gave Bad Schwartau its health-resort designation. The complex includes indoor and outdoor pools, saunas, steam rooms, and treatment areas. The brine water — saltier than the Baltic and warmer than most outdoor pools — is the main draw; many visitors come specifically for the therapeutic benefits of the mineral-rich water.
The facility is well-maintained and popular with German families and health-conscious visitors who want something quieter than the larger spa towns of Bavaria or the Rhineland. Day tickets are available. The Kurpark around the spa has the usual features of a German Kurort: leafy paths, benches, a Wandelhalle for sheltered walking, and an atmosphere of deliberate calm.
