Lange Anna is Heligoland's landmark: a tall red sandstone stack standing off the northwestern end of the main island. It is only 47 metres high, but in this flat part of the North Sea it feels monumental.
The walk there is half the point. Follow the cliff path across the Oberland, with the sea below and nesting birds along the edge in season. Wind can be fierce, so hold onto hats and loose camera straps.
