Kloster Pforta is a former Cistercian monastery near Naumburg, later turned into one of Germany's most famous boarding schools. Its alumni include poets, scholars, and scientists, and the old monastic setting still gives the place its character.
It is best treated as a short historical excursion from Naumburg, especially if you are already following the Saale-Unstrut wine route or visiting the cathedral.
