Emir Zade Mosque

A 15th-century Ottoman mosque a short walk inland from the old bridge, restored as a small monument and occasional exhibition space. The minaret is gone, but the prayer hall with its central dome and octagonal drum still gives a clean reading of the original architecture.

A quick visit, fifteen to twenty minutes, useful for a sense of the city's long Venetian-Ottoman-Greek layering. Opening hours are limited — check at the tourist office or the adjacent archaeological museum.

The mosque is the only surviving Ottoman religious building in Chalkis and one of the few on the island of Euboea — most were destroyed or converted in the decades after Greek independence. Restoration in the 2010s revived the building, but it does not function as an active mosque.
