Kamini is the tiny fishing hamlet a fifteen-minute walk west of the harbour along the coast road — a single curve of stone quay with a few moored boats, a couple of tavernas, and a small rocky cove that locals use for swimming. The atmosphere is much quieter than the main port; this is where Hydriots come to eat at the end of the day.
The walk to Kamini is half the pleasure: a paved path follows the sea past the cannons of the old harbour entrance, past the rocky bathing platforms below the town, with views back to Hydra. Continue another twenty minutes west for Vlychos, the next hamlet, with the best swimming on this side of the island and the elegant 19th-century stone bridge that gives the bay its name.
